Thread

Because of my work starting and building out a library translating desktop designs into mobile, Rooster Grin's leadership team offered me the opportunity to design a mobile app for our patient management system, Thread.

RESTYLING

Since the desktop software is due for a resurfacing, the Thread team encouraged me to opt for a new style that will eventually be adopted by the desktop version as well. Considering Rooster Grin's business model and the demographic of our clients, I identified that the new style should:

  • be flexible enough to accomodate any future features
  • be simple enough to gracefully weather several changes of guard
  • inspire trust in our brand among office managers and doctors

Here's what I came up with.

MOBILE RESPONSIVENESS

Since developers built Thread feature by feature over years and only for desktop, many challenges were handled with evermore menus. My solutions for translating these choices into mobile while maintaining a parallel IA to the desktop experience included applying toggles, sorts and filters along with more engaging menus.

USABILITY TESTING

Along with the design, I wrote a testing manual recommending what and how to conduct usability testing specific to various design solutions with suggestions on how to improve any sections that might fail those tests.
